MEMBERS shall have received a doctoral degree in psychology conferred by a graduate school of recognized standing, or shall hold either Fellow or Member status in the American Psychological Association or the Texas Psychological Association, or shall be licensed as a psychologist by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
EARLY CAREER PROFESSIONAL status is available to those who have had their Doctorate granted within the past 7 years (updated from 3 years to enhance membership and engage new psychologists). This category entitles ECP's to the same privileges as Members.
LIFE MEMBER status is available upon request to those who have been active members of DPA in good standing for a period of 15 years and have reached the age of 65. Life Members retain all privileges of full members. Requests for Life Membership must be approved by the Executive Committee of DPA. There is no fee for life membership once approved, but life members must still complete the online renewal process each year to assist DPA with maintaining an up-to-date membership database. Please make this selection only if you have already been approved by the EC as a life member of DPA.
INTERN/POSTDOC status is available to trainees in their internship year(s) or those pursuing postdoctoral studies or supervision prior to licensure. Intern/Postdoc students may not hold Association-wide office other than Student Representative or vote, but are entitled to all other privileges held by Members.
STUDENT AFFILIATE status is available to those graduate students who are matriculated in a psychology-based program and sign an attestation of being a student in good standing. Student Affiliates may not hold Association office other than Student Representative or vote, but are entitled to all other privileges held by Members.
ASSOCIATES shall be persons who are licensed as Psychological Associates by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. Associates may not hold Association-wide office or vote, but are entitled to all other privileges held by Members.
AFFILIATES are individuals who have interests consonant with the purposes of the Association but do not have the academic preparation consonant with the Member, Life Member, Associate, or Student Affiliate classes. Affiliates may not hold Association office or vote, but are entitled to all other privileges held by members. An Affiliate must remain actively engaged in professional activity in the community.
