Melody Fortenberry, Ph.D., LMFT
Dr. Melody Fortenberry is a licensed clinical psychologist and licensed marriage and family therapist, who works with people of various ages in individual, group, couple and family therapy. For over 35 years, the primary focus of her practice has been helping individuals and families achieve their life dreams and aspirations, while creating happy, functional relationships. Many of the issues that she works with pertain to stress, depression, anxiety, anger management, relationship conflict and difficulties, divorce coaching and adjustment, academic and vocational difficulties and attention deficit disorder. Through talking, listening and playing, clients have experienced old wounds and hurts being healed.
Dr. Fortenberry obtained her Ph.D. with an emphasis in clinical psychology from The Fielding Graduate University in July, 1982. She also has a M.A. degree from Texas Christian University in Community Psychology and a B.S. degree from St. Louis University in Communication Disorders with an emphasis in learning disabilities.
Dr. Fortenberry has been in private practice since August, 1983. In addition, to doing individual, group, and family psychotherapy, she also does play therapy with children. She has a background in doing psychological testing and evaluations. In addition, Dr. Fortenberry presents at conferences and professional meetings regarding her work with children and families. Her presentations often involve working with couples, the family as a whole, doing group therapy with adults and children, and play therapy.
