Paul K. Chafetz, PhD
Clinical Psychology for Adults
Helping you successfully manage life's transitions...
Dr. Chafetz, clinical psychologist and former university associate professor, is a full time private practitioner serving adults in Dallas, TX. Since 1982, he has served individuals and families facing a wide variety of concerns regarding emotions, thinking ability, behavior, relationships, legal status, and safety risks caused by impairment
"My passion is ensuring that every adult is mentally ready to succeed in all transitions that comprise the adult years. The meaning in my life comes from helping my patients see themselves, their situation, their future, and the entire world with new eyes and a newly courageous attitude."
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
Life is often hard. In any decade of life, transitions can become difficult. Dr. Chafetz provides psychotherapy to help adults age 25+ turn their challenges in life into building blocks of a better you, through increased self-awareness, new conceptual tools, and improved behavioral and interpersonal skills.
LOVING DIFFICULT RELATIVES
Sadly, some people treat their own loved ones very badly. For over 30 years, Dr. Chafetz has helped the frustrated, unappreciated spouses or adult children of these individuals learn how to deal with this painful situation, to effectively love their hard to love relatives, and to create a healthy legacy for their own children.
MENTAL CAPACITY TO SIGN A NEW WILL
In the US, up to 3% of wills probated each year are contested. Dr. Chafetz helps families avoid conflict after a testator is gone, and assure that the testator's legitimate wishes are fulfilled, by providing independent psychological assessment of their testamentary capacity and vulnerability to undue influence when they sign a new will.
MENTAL READINESS FOR LIFE AFTER WORK
Contentment in retirement requires more than enough money. Fearing boredom, many people dread leaving full time work. Dr. Chafetz's trademarked program, Grow Into It, available both for individuals in his office and in workshop form for groups, teaches key concepts and indispensable skills for crafting a successful and psychologically meaningful "work afterlife."
