Stop Skipping Class! Examining Social Class Differences in the Therapeutic Relationship

Dallas Psychological Association | Published on 11/23/2025
DPA members gathered for Stop Skipping Class! Examining Social Class Differences in the Therapeutic Relationship, a workshop that addressed the often overlooked role of social class in clinical practice. The presentation explored how class based assumptions and lived experiences shape communication, rapport, and treatment outcomes. Participants gained tools for recognizing class related barriers, reducing bias, and fostering a therapeutic environment that is respectful, informed, and attuned to clients from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to a rich discussion.
